The Employment and Social Affairs Committee hosted the November plenary on the topic of ‘Building Skills for the Future’.

A panel discussion took place with representatives from the OECD, the European Commission’s Digital Economy and Skills Unit, and JA Europe. The keynote speech was delivered by Michel Servoz, Director-General, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion at the European Commission.

MeetingPackage.com is an online platform dedicated to the booking of meeting rooms. It allows users to compare various meeting venues and prices at a glance.

AmCham EU hosted on Wednesday 9 November a high-level policy discussion entitled, “Europe at a crossroads: Where do we go from here?”

The event highlight featured a panel discussion with Karel De Gucht, former European Commissioner for Trade; Gunter Verheugen, former European Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry, and Aongus Hegarty, President, EMEA, Dell EMS. Moderated by AmCham EU CEO Susan Danger, the panelists explored how the EU should best address the challenges and opportunities it is currently facing.

BorgWarner has become AmCham EU's 165th member company.

BorgWarner is an American worldwide automotive industry components and parts supplier. It is primarily known for its powertrain products, which include manual and automatic transmissions and transmission components, such as electro-hydraulic control components, transmission control units, friction materials, and one-way clutches, turbochargers, engine valve timing system components, along with four-wheel drive system components.

 

Delegation from the Environment Committee travels to Strasbourg

A delegation of nine members from AmCham EU's Environment Committee travelled to Strasbourg on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 October to meet with a number of MEPs.

The delegation held 14 constructive meetings with MEPs and parliamentary assistants from a range of political groups on the key legislative files of 2016. Some of the topics covered were the circular economy, chemicals policy and endocrine disruptors.

Susan Danger, CEO of AmCham EU, attended the AmChams in Europe (ACE) Best Practices Conference in Slovenia. The three day programme featured a number of sessions covering a wide range of topics, including Membership and Management, Advocacy and Impact and Communications and Marketing. 

From Slovenia Ms. Danger travelled to Croatia to discuss TTIP at the AmCham Croatia Economic Forum.

 

AmCham EU Youth Entrepreneurship Award 2016 jury deliberation takes place

The 4th Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Award, in collaboration with JA Europe, jury deliberation took place on Tuesday, 11 October 2016 at the AmCham EU offices.

Finalists were judged on thier levels of innovation, sustainability and commercial potential by the six members of the jury: Alex Barker, Brussels Bureau Chief, Financial Times; Susan Danger, CEO, AmCham EU; Anthony L. Gardner, US Ambassador to the EU; Stefaan Hermans, Head of Cabinet to Commissioner Thyssen; Eva Paunova MEP (EPP, BG); and Patrick Xhonneux, Vice-President, EMEA, Marketing, SAS.

World Trade Institute publishes updated results for Malta in TTIP study

The World Trade Institute (WTI), authors of the study “TTIP and the EU Member States (2016),” has published updated country-specific results of the impact of an ambitious TTIP on the Maltese economy. Utilising the latest economic data for Malta from 2015, the new findings conclude that TTIP could lead to a marginal increase in GDP and investment in the country.

Presidency Group travels to Malta to meet Government Ministers ahead of Council Presidency
