Leadership update

AmCham EU is pleased to announce recent appointments to leadership positions. We would like to congratulate Veronika Bendere (MSD); Elizabeth Crossick (Relx); Mark Foster (Barclays); Jane Gimber (FleishmanHillard); Ania Helseth (Meta); Pablo Muniz (Van Bael & Bellis); Emilia Valbum (3M); and Alberto Zilio (AT&T Inc).

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank members who stepped down recently from leadership positions for their continued engagement  and commitment: George Candon (Hill + Knowlton Strategies) who remains Member at Large of the Operations Group and Vice-Chair of the Communications and Marketing Group; Agnese Danelon (Dupont) who remains Vice-Chair of the Transport, Energy and Climate Committee; Jeremy Rollison (Microsoft); and Elizabeth Krahulecz (former EY). More details about the leadership changes mentioned above can be found here.

Trust, cooperation and optimism- the transatlantic digital economy

Data has become the primary driver of our digitalised economy, and it impacts every facet of our lives. In fact, it is estimated that by the end of 2021 alone, 60% of the global GDP will be digitalised. Knowing this, AmCham EU hosted the 9th edition of its annual Transatlantic Digital Economy Conference on Thursday, 28 October. This year’s event featured discussions on how private and public entities can channel the power of data to fuel Europe’s digital decade and foster transatlantic ties.

AmCham EU Executive Council holds plenary with top EU officials

The Executive Council of AmCham EU held their annual Fall Plenary with top officials for the very first time in a hybrid format. The group brings together senior business executives responsible for the European operations of some of AmCham EU’s member companies and is chaired by Chris Delaney, President, EMEA, Goodyear. Discussions over the two days focused on the economic recovery and resilience, European Green Deal, Fit for 55, the transatlantic relationship and COP26.

Data: fuelling small and medium-sized enterprises

We met up with local start-ups to discuss how data is crucial to their work in improving the health and well-being of their clients. Sébastien Deletaille, Co-founder and CEO, Rosa shared some of the challenges start-ups face when it comes to data and how data can foster innovation. Meanwhile Stéphanie Roland, Founder and CEO, Nutrinomics gave her recommendations on how data can help the start-up community grow.

COP26: US business views

Described as the event to ’set the trajectory for future generations’ and serve as the ‘last, best chance of making progress’, the United Nations Climate Change conference in Glasgow, otherwise known as COP26, looks set to mark an inflection point in the battle against climate change.
