AmCham EU hosts Welcome reception for US Mission to the EU

On Monday 28 September, AmCham EU hosted a Reception with the US Mission to welcome Mission newcomers. Guests included senior US commercial services representatives from across Europe, staff from the US Mission, AmCham EU members and EU stakeholders.

Susan Danger participates in UK Competitiveness round-table

Susan Danger, Managing Director, AmCham EU, participated in the UK Competitivenss round-table on Wednesday 23 September with a number of business representatives in Brussels. The round-table was organised by the UK Permanent Representation to the EU and participants had the opportunity to discuss how the European Union can become more competitive with Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, UK Foreign Secretary.

AmCham EU leadership meets with US Mission to the EU

AmCham EU leadership met with the Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Mission to the EU, Adam Shub, on Thursday 17 September 2015. 

A number of the AmCham EU Committee Chairs and Vice-Chairs discussed the various issues affecting their sectors.

Members invited to complete Agenda for Action Scorecard Survey

AmCham EU is currently updating the Agenda for Action Scorecard that measures the progress the EU has made against AmCham EU’s key policy recommendations for Europe detailed in the Agenda for Action 2014-2019 report released last year. To update the Scorecard, we are seeking member companies' responses to a short survey of 10 multiple choice questions. 'Umbrella agreement’ reached on data protection

After four years of negotiations AmCham EU welcomes the signing, by EU and US officials, of an ‘umbrella agreement’ on data protection. The agreement will cover personal data that is transferred between US and EU law enforcement agencies and is seen as an important step towards strengthening the fundamental right to privacy in Europe and rebuilding trust in EU-US data flows, according to Justice Commissioner Věra Jourová.

Washington Doorknock 2015 takes place

A delegation of AmCham EU members travelled to Washington, DC last week for the annual Doorknock, meeting with the US administration, agencies and Congress on cross-sectoral issues such as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and wider transatlantic economic relations including energy, agriculture, trade and financial services. The Doorknock coincided with the Transatlantic Week in Washington, organised by the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN).

AmCham EU presents at TTIP stakeholder event round 10

Andreas Galanakis, AmCham EU Policy Director, spoke on regulatory cooperation at the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership stakeholder event. Andreas stated that AmCham EU believes TTIP is a great opportunity to create a framework for transatlantic cooperation that could reduce or eliminate unnecessary regulatory divergences. Doing so will also facilitate business for those already engaged in the transatlantic economy, but also broaden the opportunities of smaller businesses which do not currently trade across the Atlantic.
