The European Commission’s Data Governance Act (DGA) represents an important opportunity to develop a better culture of data sharing in Europe, ultimately contributing to boosting Europe’s data economy as well as driving the type of data collaborations that are necessary to support eh EU’s artificial intelligence and digital transformation objectives. Data is a crucial resource for economic growth, competitiveness, innovation, job creation and societal progress – particularly with the backdrop of the recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, it is invaluable for Europe to harness this potential, digitise its industries and compete globally. It is therefore more important than ever to ensure that the power of data can be harnessed and that data can be shared and re-used. Read AmCham EU's position on the DGA here.

EU-US Summit: A critical milestone for the global agenda

11 Jun 2021
All Committees

The transatlantic partnership is the backbone of the global economy. The economic relationship between the EU and the US creates 16 million jobs, generates half of total global consumption and accounts for one third of global GDP. However, a shifting geopolitical landscape, a once-in-a-generation global pandemic, an economic recession and a climate emergency are challenges that require transatlantic leadership.

The business community calls on EU and U.S. leaders to use the 15 June summit to map out a positive, proactive agenda for further transatlantic cooperation. We call for a three-pronged agenda, focused on reducing barriers to trade; ensuring economic recovery; and converging on a greener, digital future. Read the joint statement here.
