Susan Danger, CEO, AmCham EU participated in the Annual Economic Forum organised by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, which featured Thierry Breton, Commissioner for Internal Market, European Commission and Ingrida Šimontytė, Prime Minister of Lithuania. The Forum focused on the ability of businesses to maintain competitiveness throughout the green and digital transformations and Ms Danger discussed the various approaches used by transatlantic partners to adapt to the changes.

AmCham Ukraine organised an online session titled ‘B2G Communications in Focus’ at which Thibaut L’Ortye, Director of Public Affairs, AmCham EU was one of the panellists. He focused on the approaches used by AmCham EU to differentiate its communication strategies in the Brussels' setting and highlighted the importance of developing a clear sense of identity in order to solidify relationships with trusted partners.

Eliminating 75% of single-use plastics in packaging by 2025

Remaking the bed: mattress recycling

In Europe, 30 million mattresses are thrown away each year. Stacked in a single pile, they would be 678 times taller than Mount Everest. With its RENUVA initiative, Dow is able to advance circular solutions by taking foam from discarded mattresses and turning it back into its raw material (polyol) through chemical recycling.

EU and US reach deal on steel and aluminium tariff dispute

On Sunday, 31 October, the EU and the US announced a pause in the transatlantic trade dispute over steel and aluminium tariffs. The US will partially remove Section 232 tariffs (up to historic trade volumes), while the EU will suspend its retaliatory measures. Both sides also agreed to start negotiations on a Global Arrangement on Sustainable Steel and Aluminium.
