Preventing violence against women: A discussion on how business and governments can work together
Violence against women has far-reaching social and economic consequences in our society. On Thursday, 2 February, the Gender Initiatives Task Force hosted a discussion on how governments and business can work toward preventing violence against women.
Representatives from industry, the European Commission and the European Parliament discussed how legislative proposals, monitoring technology and corporate programmes, and public-private partnerships can help to tackle a commonplace, and unfortunately overlooked, issue.
AmCham EU members IBM and 3M shed light on the specific steps their companies are taking through human resources efforts and development of new technologies to combat this complex issue.
The panel, moderated by Susan Danger, CEO, AmCham EU, featured: Anna Maria Corazza Bildt MEP (EPP, Sweden); Nadine Aron, Wellbeing Officer, IBM Belgium; Maxime Bureau, Director, Government Affairs, Europe, 3M; and Monika Ladmanová, Advisor to Věra Jourová, Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality.
