AmCham EU meets with leading business women from Bulgaria
Susan Danger, Managing Director, AmCham EU met with a delegation of members from the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria (CWBB) after being asked to host the group during their visit to Brussels by Eva Paunova MEP (EPP, BG). AmCham EU hosted the delegation of 13 leading business women representing a range of industries from Bulgaria. The 60 members which make up the Council consists of companies which collectively contribute 10% of Bulgaria’s GDP. The Council aims to promote professional development in women across all sectors and career stages.
The Council were keen to hear about AmCham EU’s Gender Initiatives Task Force and efforts to encourage best practices in all member companies, fortified by the ACE network. Ms. Danger highlighted the Task Force’s aim to create a platform for discussion on gender diversity and the group were particularly interested in hearing about the differences in gender balance and equality in business between Brussels and Bulgaria. There was also a discussion on the need to include men in the discussions on promoting women in positions of leadership.
CWBB also spoke of their programmes aimed at young people through training and internships; asked about the investment of business in Bulgaria; the status of TTIP; and discussed what will follow the UK referendum.
