Ukraine invasion: AmCham EU commends unity from EU, US and partners
The American Chamber of Commerce to the EU (AmCham EU) continues to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in the strongest possible terms. As we emphasised over a week ago, we stand with the people of Ukraine as they face incredible suffering and violence.
We cannot and should not remain silent in the face of the senseless loss of human lives. Russia’s actions are threatening the fundamental values upon which our societies are based.
Business is an integral part of society and, as such, has an important role to play in difficult times. Many companies – beyond our membership only – are taking action to support the Ukrainian people and facilitate humanitarian aid. We urge the private sector to continue to step up and engage. Fellow American Chambers of Commerce across Europe and Eurasia, our sister organisations, are also doing their utmost to channel aid and support refugees, in particular in neighbouring countries.
We commend the EU, the US and many other partners for their swift reactions. The severity of the situation continues to require unity and solidarity across the Atlantic and with the international community.
We fully support the call from the International Committee of the Red Cross to uphold humanitarian law and protect civilians. All ongoing efforts to avoid further escalation and safeguard peace are critical.

AmChams in Europe stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine
AmCham EU, together with AmChams in Europe, the umbrella organisation for 46 AmChams in 44 countries across Europe and Eurasia, stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. The ongoing invasion of Ukraine violates international law and endangers peace and security across the region. It poses a clear threat to fundamental values of human dignity, democracy, rule of law and solidarity.
Our thoughts go out to all the individuals who are directly impacted across the region, including our fellow AmCham colleagues, their members, partners and relatives.
Our network brings together individuals and organisations with deep ties across Europe and Eurasia, and around the world. It is built upon a strong belief in the importance of cooperation, dialogue and cultural understanding. The military actions underway jeopardise those ideals.
AmChams in Europe supports all ongoing efforts to avoid further escalation, protect civilians and safeguard security and prosperity across the region

How American companies are supporting Ukraine
As a response to the war in Ukraine, the business community is mobilising its resources to assist with the humanitarian relief efforts. Our member companies, too, have taken immediate action to support people in Ukraine and enable humanitarian aid.
Companies of all sectors created grants and campaigns to raise funds for non-governmental organisations like Direct Relief, the Red Cross and Save the Children. These NGOs can provide food, water, first aid tools and medical supplies to the people of Ukraine. Many of these companies have also pledged to support United Nations agencies such as UNICEF and UNHCR, which are working to repair vital infrastructure and provide shelter, emergency relief items, cash assistance and psychosocial support to the millions of refugees – many of them children – impacted by this war.
In times of need, the business community has a crucial role to play. We urge the private sector to continue their support and assistance.
If you want to know more about how American companies are contributing to the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, you can find more information in this tracker of private sector initiatives compiled by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Practical steps for supporting the people of Ukraine
As the situation evolves, the need for humanitarian aid continues to rise. AmCham EU as an organisation will be making a donation to the International Committee of the Red Cross and encourages others to support the efforts aimed at helping those most in need in Ukraine. There are multiple ways to get involved and drive a positive impact. We have compiled a list, which is by no means exhaustive, of organisations you may wish to make a contribution to.
