Position paper - Civil liability – adapting liability rules to the digital age and AI: consultation response

The European Commission is assessing the effectiveness of the existing liability framework, in light of new societal challenges, by allowing cross-sector stakeholders to respond to the consultation on ‘Civil liability – adapting liability rules to the digital age and artificial intelligence’. In our response, we argue that no additional measures are needed to adapt the Product Liability Directive (PLD) to the digital and circular economy and that no legislative changes are required on liability for AI, whether in a revised PLD or a new legislative instrument.
