The US business community welcomes the US government’s formal notification today to the US Congress of its intention to relaunch trade negotiations with the EU.

This move provides important new momentum in the efforts by both sides to deepen their economic relationship, which is already the largest and deepest of its kind in the world. We call for the EU to respond positively to this development, setting in motion soon the request for a mandate from the EU Member States to also restart negotiations. In the short term, US business will continue to identify opportunities for improved transatlantic regulatory cooperation in specific sectors to boost transatlantic trade ties.

Maintaining and strengthening EU-US economic relations is essential to the stability, prosperity and security of both regions. The US business community looks forward to working with stakeholders on both sides of the Atlantic in support of this important goal.
