Brussels, 18 November, 2015 – The American Chamber of Commerce to the EU (AmCham EU) encourages continued progress in the European Commission’s Energy Union Framework Strategy. The State of the Energy Union Report, released today, underlines the advancements made in the strategy and explains that much still needs to be done, with 2016 being a year of delivery.

AmCham EU members would like to stress that energy and climate policies are and will remain highly interlinked with competitiveness and industrial policies. As outlined in our September 2015 position paper on the Energy Union Framework Strategy, all industries operating in Europe should be allowed to compete, develop and innovate on a level playing field to ensure Europe’s continued competitiveness while transitioning to a stable low-carbon global economy.

We look forward to working with the Commission on the upcoming proposals, particularly with regard to enhancing energy efficiency, matching the increasing need for infrastructure investment and stimulating innovation.
