On Tuesday, 15 October, AmCham EU, BusinessEurope and U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) hosted an event to discuss perspectives on representative actions in the EU.

Discussions focused on current developments related to collective redress – an EU-wide redress mechanism that will allow groups of consumers harmed by illegal practices to launch collective actions and seek compensation. Panellists included Martin Kuechler, Councillor for Consumer Protection and Civil (Contract) Law, German Permanent Representation to the EU, Blanca Rodriguez-Galindo, Head of Unit, DG Justice and Consumers, European Commission and Joëlle Simon, MEDEF and Vice-Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee, BusinessEurope. The event was moderated by, Ken Daly, Partner, Sidley Austin LLP.

ILR presented a paper that takes a deeper look into the spread of third party litigation funding (TPLF) in the EU and around the world.  You can find the full analysis here.
