On Tuesday 10 May, AmCham EU presented the TTIP and the EU Member States study to the ECR delegation at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The meeting was hosted by Emma McClarkin MEP (ECR/UK).

The meeting featured:

  • An introduction from Emma McClarkin MEP, in which she outlined the importance of TTIP to the EU, the necessity of communicating effectively to citizens on the benefits of TTIP, and need to support EU negotiators as they look to conclude an ambitious deal;
  • A presentation by Hendrik Bourgeois on AmCham EU’s priorities in TTIP, and why AmCham EU commissioned the study;
  • A detailed presentation of the study by Koen Berden, World Trade Institute; and
  • A Q& A session with the audience.

The meeting was attended by around 25 participants, including several MEPs. All MEPs were in principle in favour of TTIP, in line with the ECR group’s general position.
