AmCham EU has announced that Susan Danger, CEO, will step down from her position later in the year. After 28 years with the organisation and further to much consideration, Susan has decided that it is time for a new professional chapter and change in life. The AmCham EU Board of Directors will start the search for a new CEO immediately. Susan will remain at the helm of the organisation in the coming months and as the transition process unfolds. She has also agreed to stay engaged longer and will assist this transition as Strategic Adviser to the organisation.

Liam Benham, Chair of the Board, AmCham EU, and President of EU, NATO and Government Affairs Europe, Boeing International, said: ‘The US business community is deeply grateful to Susan for her outstanding leadership and dedication to the transatlantic relationship over many years. Susan commands deep respect across the EU policy community and she has played a pivotal role in making AmCham EU what it is today – an impactful and trusted voice for American companies in Europe.’ He went on to say: ‘The Board is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and is looking forward to the next phase of growth and success for AmCham EU under Susan’s successor.’

Susan Danger, CEO, AmCham EU, commented: ‘I am incredibly proud of the legacy I have built together with past and current colleagues and members. It is the right time for me to pass the baton to a new CEO as the EU is gearing up for a fresh mandate. I am leaving AmCham EU in strong shape with not only record-level membership but importantly a fantastic reputation and a robust professional team.’ She added: ‘It has been an honour to lead this organisation, as well as exciting, challenging, fun and fulfilling. However, I am now eager to be able to dedicate more of my time, energy and passion to new projects, both personal and professional.’

Under Susan’s leadership, AmCham EU was voted Best EU Trade Association of the Year in 2021 by BestinBrussels.eu. In 2017, AmCham EU was awarded for the fourth time the Trade Association/Professional Body of the Year Award, having previously won the award in 2009, 2012 and 2014.

Susan has dedicated her entire career to building a strong and united Europe as well as strengthening the transatlantic relationship. She joined AmCham EU in 1995 as Communications Manager. Since 2002, she has been leading the organisation as Managing Director and, since 2016, as CEO. She also held the position of Chair of AmChams in Europe, the umbrella organisation for 49 American Chambers of Commerce, from 2020 to 2023. Susan was named by POLITICO as one of the top 20 women influencers in Brussels in 2016 and 2020.
