Position paper - EU Customs Reform

With the introduction of the European Customs Authority, the EU Customs Data Hub and the ‘Trust & Check’ trader status, the European Commission has demonstrated a commitment to improving customs procedures and facilitate trade. However, certain aspects require further refinement. For instance, each of these measures needs to be proportionate, streamlined and transparent. Policymakers should also harmonise customs infringements, non-criminal sanctions and Restrictions and Prohibitions.
