To some, intellectual property (IP) is an abstract and ambiguous concept, but in fact, it is a crucial driver of the global economy, responsible for 90% of the value of firms in the S&P 500. This intangible asset single-handedly contributes double what physical capital does to the value of trade. But what is IP?
