US business in Europe cautions against potential EU-US trade tit-for-tat

On Monday, 3 February, AmCham EU issued a statement in response to the US Administration’s decision to impose tariffs on Canada, China and Mexico. The communication was shared with a wide range of stakeholders, including EU and Member State officials. We warned of the risks associated with tariffs against the EU specifically and a tit-for-tat trade dispute. Since then, President Trump announced a one-month pause to the threat of tariffs on Canada and Mexico. The US Chamber welcomed the pause and called for a permanent end to tariff threats.
