From Tuesday, 8 to Wednesday, 9 July, AmCham EU visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France to engage on the future direction of EU trade policy and EU-US relations. Over the course of meetings with 10 MEPs, delegates emphasised the need for open, rules-based trade in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment. The delegation underlined strong support for EU, transatlantic and global trade partnerships, while underscoring the need to advance ongoing trade agreements and ratify concluded deals like the EU-Mercosur FTA and EU-Mexico FTA. Discussions also focused on the importance of greater policy coherence between trade and related policy areas to ensure Europe’s continued competitiveness and resilience.
