Strengthening transatlantic cooperation in Munich

In the run-up to the Munich Security Conference 2025, AmCham EU joined Freshfields to host an event focused on the impact of geopolitical conflicts on global investments, the implications of rising protectionism and the role of businesses in ensuring economic and national security. Opening the event, which took place on Thursday, 13 February, Malte Lohan, CEO, AmCham EU stressed the important role that the transatlantic relationship offers to both the competitiveness and security of the EU and US. 

Before the panel, Wolfgang Ischinger, President, Board of Trustees, Munich Security Conference Foundation gave a keynote speech. Joining the panel was John Harrison, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and Member, Executive Committee, Airbus; Mara Karlin, Professor, Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies; Koos Lodewijkx, Chief Information Security Officer, IBM; Udo Philipp, State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, The Federal Government of Germany; Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chair, Subcommittee on Security and Defence, European Parliament. Beth George, Partner and Head, Strategic Risk Management Group, Freshfields moderated the discussions.Thanks to Freshfields for co-organising the event with us.

CBAM extension: get implementation right before expanding scope

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will test whether the EU can address carbon leakage while keeping investment in Europe. Recommendations to the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU

Ireland will assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2026 at a decisive moment for Europe’s competitiveness agenda. AmCham EU hosts its Annual General Meeting 2026

On Tuesday, 23 June, AmCham EU held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), welcoming Pedro Lourtie, Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Council, António Costa. The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on AmCham EU’s work over the past year and to look ahead to the organisation’s priorities for the months to come, including its continued efforts to support an open and competitive Europe.
