Deepening transatlantic cooperation in DC

From Tuesday, 13 to Friday, 16 May, AmCham EU joined the AmChams in Europe network for a delegation visit to Washington, DC. The group met with representatives from the US Department of State, US Department of Commerce and Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) to discuss trade, investment and the broader transatlantic relationship. A highlight of the visit was the US launch of the Transatlantic Economy 2025 study, alongside AmCham EU’s counterparts at the US Chamber of Commerce. The report presents the latest data on the EU-US economic relationship.

Discussing regulatory simplicity and legal certainty with Commissioner McGrath

On Tuesday, 20 May, AmCham EU met with Michael McGrath, European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection. The meeting served as an introduction to AmCham EU’s work and an opportunity to hear more about the Commissioner’s current priorities. AmCham EU underlined the importance of legal certainty, proportionality and alignment across upcoming legislation. We also shared updates on our engagement with the Commission on key sustainability, digital and consumer protection files, including outreach to international partners.  

Building deeper intellectual property links with EUIPO

How can intellectual property (IP) boost Europe's competitiveness? That's what AmCham EU asked on Tuesday, 13 and Wednesday, 14 May, during a delegation to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante, Spain. During the visit, delegates met with EUIPO leadership to discuss trends in IP filings, business promotion activities and opportunities for enhanced cooperation. Participants also covered IP enforcement trends, the new EU design framework, the role of alternative dispute resolution in IP and EUIPO’s initiatives on copyright and artificial intelligence. Throughout the visit, participants highlighted the need to foster creativity and strengthen IP protection to support Europe's innovation landscape.
